Case Study Lussa Gin Nestled away on the Island of Jura, off the coast of Scotland, you can find the delightful Lussa Gin distillery. Established by a trio of adventurous local ladies and using only the most natural ingredients from the island, Lussa Gin was born.

The island boasts a total population of 200 and is only accessible by ferry or helicopter if you happen to have one. This beautiful paradise is home to an abundance of native flowers, herbs and wildlife, and surrounded by the sea. Keeping their gin natural, the team at Lussa make sure they incorporate all that the wild landscape offers. Using only 15 ingredients, Lussa Gin gets it flavour from the many flowers that grow, from lemon thyme to sea lettuce, the combination of plants creates a truly unique flavour.

One of the key ingredients, Juniper plant is under threat and in decline. This wonderful plant has been grown since the ice age, but due to disease, has severely declined. Not willing to let this happen, Lussa Gin have established a long-term environmental project to help get plant numbers up. Planting 500 Argyll-grown juniper around Lussa Glen, the ladies at Lussa have taken the first step to preserving this historic plant, and supporting this stunning environment.

Keen to show people how they make the gin, the team offer distillery tours for visitors looking to see where this delicious gin is made, and learn more about the process.
